Sewage Spill Injures Two in Palm Beach, FL

Two Injured as Sewage Spill Shuts Down Okeechobee Blvd. in Royal Palm Beach

Two people were injured and taken to hospitals while a 100-gallon sewage spill shut down a major road through Royal Palm Beach Friday morning, after a driver caused a three-vehicle crash.

The crash shut down all westbound lanes of Okeechobee Boulevard beginning at Lakeview Drive until the mid-afternoon, causing commuters to divert through nearby neighborhoods while traffic investigators worked. All eastbound lanes of Okeechobee remained open, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s officials.

Officials did not identify any witnesses to the crash, which happened near the end of morning rush hour. As of Friday evening, the identities of the drivers had not been released. Nor was there an update on the condition of the two taken to hospitals.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Deputy Jay Garfield said a little after 8:45 a.m., a 27-year-old man driving eastbound on Okeechobee in a green Honda sedan lost control of his car for unknown reasons.
